End of the Permanent Me / The Years Gone By tour!

Sorry for the lack of tour updates guys, we've fallen behind a little bit. Our tour is over and we posted a huge huge recap below :)

5/25/07 - Rochester, NY - Water Street Music Hall
R-town! First thing's first...Water Steet Music Hall is the most amazing venue any of us have ever seen...it's absolutely incredible, and it's the kind of venue you'd see in a movie or some unrealistic music video...ballin. There was a "battle of the bands" going on, and we had the honor of playing in between the battle, as an "intermission" of sorts...there was about 250+ kids watching us, and we received a great response, thanks to everyone who was hanging out that night.
-----

5/26/07 - New Jersey - Grace United Methodist Church
We played a church in Wyckoff, NJ and a lot of our Lincolndale buddies showed up (<3) as well as a slew of fans who made ridiculously long (3 hour) drives just to see us play...we couldn't thank you guys enough. This show was very intimate and we made and met a ton of new fans, we truly love playing New Jersey and we've befriended a ton of people there in the past few weeks. After the show, we went to a restaurant where our fanspace friend, Sarah, and her parents treated us to a delicious meal then we went to watch the Chuck Liddel (UFC) fight in some bar...it ended in 30 seconds and Chuck lost :(
At night, our buddy John let us stay at his house, where his mom cooked us the most amazing breakfast (egg sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, etc.) and dinner (steaks, chicken, potatoes, rice, cookies, etc.)...we honestly couldn't thank him or his parents enough.

"Mixdown"
<lj-embed id="1" />

-----

5/28/07 - Raleigh, NC - Berkeley Cafe (thanks Mars and Flynn)
Okay...this show was a show that we'll remember forever. Permanent Me unfortunately couldn't play it, due to personal reasons, so it was just us and The Years Gone By, and it was the last show we'd be playing with them because they had to head home. So, with that said...we turned this show into a grand finale. While The Years Gone By were playing, we all jumped on stage, and screwed with their equipment (knocked cymbals over, lowered all of the mics so they couldn't sing, and just raped their last song, it was hysterical). Then, when it was our turn to play, they, along with our friends Alaina, Allison and Mars, jumped on stage during our song "Never Enough" with 10 cans of silly string, and costumes (see pictures below). We also played "Success Story", which we hardly ever play live, and "Hope Dies Last", which is a song we've never played live until this show. After the show, we all went to a restaurant and ate a ton of food (and even got a free burger), delicious. That night, we were lucky enough to stay at Andy's friend's house (Ricky) and his mom made us the most glorious breakfast we've ever eaten...and endless amount of bacon, eggs, sausage, french toast, etc. it was so freaking amazing.

Silly string!

Sharks and penguins! (we <3 The Years Gone By)

"Success Story"
<lj-embed id="2" />

-----

5/30/07 - Columbia, SC - New Brookland Tavern
Simpson-land! Our merch girl, Simpson, lives in Columbia, and we got to meet her mom, which was amazing. Simpson let us sleep at her grandparents house, and we ate a lot of donuts, potato chips and cookie cake (yum). We got to play with our hometown buddies, The Less, and they tore it up!
-----

5/31/07 - Augusta, GA - Sector 7g
Georgia = home! This was our first show back in our home state of Georgia, after a few weeks of tour, so we were all real excited to be back. We got to play with The Less again and every time we play with them we have an absolute blast. We spent the entire night walking around town and then we all slept at our homes...yay for laying in your own bed!
-----

5/31/07 - 6/2/07 - Home (Atlanta)
We got to spend a few days relaxing at home...but didn't really get to relax. We held a lot of practices and had a lot of running around to do before our long drive to New York City. It was real good to eat home cooked meals and hang out with our families for a little while.
-----

6/2/07 - Stacie's Party
We played a sweet sixteen party on June 2nd and had a really fun time...you can find some videos below.

"My Philosophy"
<lj-embed id="3" />
"Walking By" (beginning)
<lj-embed id="4" />
"Walking By (ending)/ "Driving Away"
<lj-embed id="5" />

-----

6/3/07 & 6/4/07 - Sixteen Hour Drive to New York City
We had to head to NYC to meet with some people and do business sort of things, because, well...we're freaking businessmen (not really). We left Michael's house around 12pm on June 3rd to make this haul of a drive, we listened to Avril Lavigne, The Less, Ryan Cabrera, The Less, The Years Gone By, and a slew of mixes...and after all of that was done, we still had about 12 hours of driving to go, hahaha. We had a lot of fun in the van, talking about useless things and talking about how much we missed our dream girl (Simpson <3), because she decided to NOT make the trip for some ungodly reason...but we love her anyway because she's amazing. Andy got this 'spiderman glove' thing where you attach it to your wrist and you can shoot silly string, like spiderman. He shot Michael in the face with it and it was pretty impressive. That night, we slept in a Red Roof Inn hotel in Virginia, where the dude at the desk hooked us up with two rooms for a ridiculously cheap price...we were so stoked. We checked out at around 11pm and had about 4 1/2 more hours until we reached the big apple. Shortly after our arrival we were reminded of how frustrating driving a van and trailer in New York City can be, after honking our horn for a total of about 45 minutes and running Honda Civic's off the road (and entering tunnels that vans and trailers aren't supposed to enter) we reached the hotel... Park Central Hotel <3. The hotel was located in the heart of the city, about 5 minutes walking distance away from Times Square, it was perfect.
-----

6/4/07 - 6/6/07 - New York City / Long Island
Upon checking in and watching TV for about 20 minutes, we decided to take a walk around Times Square and do the tourist thing for an hour or two. Then, we headed down to visit our hometown buddies in Cartel at the "Bubble". For those of you who weren't informed, Cartel are locked up inside of a giant glass bubble/dome thing in New York City, where they have to write and record their new self-titled album...they can't leave, and anyone can come visit them at any time, so we stopped by to say hello and talked to them for a bit...we love those dudes and their new album will rip faces off. Following the bubble, we went out to eat at Hooters, because they have nice...chicken wings. Needless to say, we were all a little bummed because the wings weren't as good as normal and were about ten times more expensive than normal...oh well, NYC = $$$. Andy, Mickey and our manager Frank decided to eat at some fancy italian restaurant instead, where they found a giant metal wire in their pizza...they raised hell and got the pizza for free, and then went somewhere else to eat more pizza, hahaha. That night, we went down to the bar to watch the "bubble" on MTV then went back to the room as soon as possible to get some rest.
The next morning (6/5), we all walked around the city for a bit, practiced at SIR, the famous rehearsal space, and met up with our producers Zack and Kenneth (who are also producing Cartel's new record in the 'bubble'). After that, we went down to the bubble again and played a ton of volleyball, jumped on this giant velcro wall, met Colonel Sanders and ate free KFC, hotdogs and other food (see pictures below). We also got to see the dudes in New Found Glory for a while as well...all in all, it was one of the funnest nights we've ever had as a band.
The next morning we checked out of the room and met with some friends until the late afternoon, then we shopped and bought a bunch of crap for real cheap on Canal Street. By that time, it was around 8pm so we headed to Chipotle, and then headed back to the van. Little did we know, that it would cost about $250 (yes, $250) to park the van for 24 hours (yes, 24 hours), so we paid up and then drove to Long Island to spend a few nights there before heading to New Jersey for our show at School of Rock on the 8th (tonight...right now).
On Long Island, we relaxed by the pool and chilled in the jacuzzi...it was amazing. We also had two super intense and competitive games of wiffle ball, so much fun. We ate hotdogs, hamburgers, ice cream, and a lot of unhealthy food...yum.
So, that leads up to now...we're about to go on stage and play a show in New Jersey at School of Rock, it's our first show in about a week so we're real excited to be playing! Wooo.

Volleyball!

Velcro wall!

Colonel Sanders!

Thanks to everyone who made this tour/trip as fun as it was. Anyone who came up to us to say hello, let us sleep at their place, brought us food and goodies and even smiled at us...thank you. Thanks to our tour partners The Years Gone By and Permanent Me for being awesome dudes and sharing the stage with us every night. We'll see you guys again real soon...

When we rolled up to the venue, we actually expected there to only be a few kids, hanging out and watching us play...but we were severely underestimated things. We played all of the songs off of the EP, a ton of old songs, and two covers (Goo Goo Dolls, and Hootie And The Blowfish)...it was the longest set we've ever played (about an hour and 15 minutes). Thanks so much to Sarah, Dani, Jackie, Becca, and all of the parents (especially Sarah's) for making this happen. shows like this one are the reason why we're a band and we met some of the most amazing people, and had some of the best experiences in our lives this night…thanks to everyone who was a part of it. You can read an article about this show on the front page of the Journal News. we promise we'll be back in Lincolndale soon.

Natick, MA - we played Natick, MA last night (Saturday, May 18th) and ran around like maniacs the entire night with our friends and tour buddies The Years Gone By...check them out fo realz. we also ate wendy's, danced a lot, jumped on stage while Permanent Me played, and took a lot of crazy pictures (which we'll hopefully be posting soon..including one where Mickey looks like a hobo). we also sang a Boyz II Men-like rendition of ‘Happy Birthday' to someone...crazy fun times. aside from the weather, we had a great time in Boston, and we hope we don't schedule a show on prom night next time, hahaha. oops.

(Photos taken by Sarah)

thanks to everyone who came to the shows so far and said hello to us, bought merch, hung out in our van, cooked steaks (<3), sang our songs at the shows, came on stage with us, danced, laughed, smiled and made our first few shows of this tour a complete success. Expect more updates soon!
